Isildur1 Makes His First Appearance on the New Full Tilt

FTP2

Full Tilt Poker 2 made its launch today worldwide

Full Tilt Poker part 2 went live today, November 6. While there was not quite as much high stakes action as anticipated, we did get treated to some good heads up no limit action between Isildur1 and Ireadyrsoul, also known as Kanu7. The two battled it out at the 100/200 heads up tables for most of the afternoon and into the night. After the long day, Isildur1 escaped with about 30k in profits, although the two were neck and neck after adjusting for expected value, according to Ireadyrsoul. Although it was good to see Isildur1 back at the hold’em tables, I’m not sure we can expect to see too much of that, as it appeared he migrated that way due to the lack of pot limit Omaha action today. One thing is for sure however, while Blom has a bankroll, we can expect to see plenty of him at the tables, as well as an increasing amount of nosebleed action, once all the regulars make their way back to Full Tilt.

Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom

Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom represent the new Full Tilt

As for the two other pros signed by Full Tilt, Gus Hanson put in a few hours at the tables today, but did not fare so well. He managed to drop over 200k between the draw and plo tables. As for Tom “durrrr” Dwan, he is staying in the U.S. for the week and expects to be playing online by next week. He did say he is excited to get to the tables for some online action and hopefully his presence  will generate some good high stakes games. Tom has been absent from the online scene as of late, so it should be interesting to see if his game is still sharp enough to beat the high stakes online games, or if he has faded some after playing so many live hours against the fish in Macau. Either way, it should make for some great story lines that we will be bringing you over the coming days.

Premier League Update

Tom "Durrrr" Dwan

The prelim heats of the Premier League are over and they have moved on to the HU, play-in portion of the event. The players advancing to the next round are Jungleman, Patrik, Scott Seiver, Matther Frankland, Sam Trickett, and Tony G. Timoshenko, Durrrr, Phil Laak, and Frankenberger are still hanging around and will be playing the 2 of 3 HU matches as a play-in to the next round. However, Phil Laak has already defeated his opponent, Andy Frankenberger, in the first round 2 of 3 HU match. Tom “Durrrr” Dwan is now battling Yevgeniy Timoshenko in his first round match and the two players are currently tied 1 to 1 and are about to begin a rubber match! We we keep you posted here and write a full recap after the HU match is over and our final 8 are set.. for real time updates don’t forget to check out the Party Poker Blog site and then come back and visit us for a full recap of the action!

Lights, Cameras, and Lots and Lots of Action!

Ilari Fin

Ilari Fin has had some big swing lately

Compared to the last month or so, this week online has been a little slow. We have seen Ziigmund put in some lengthy sessions though. He has been winning nearly every session lately, but yesterday gave a lot of it back in a -200k+ session. Our boy Isildur1 has put in a few short sessions at the plo tables, but hasn’t had much luck.. He has managed to give back the majority of his Superstar Showdown earnings without even the courtesy of a marathon session to rail. :(

However, what the online world is lacking in this week, the live world is making up for. Today, April 5, marks the opening of 2 different major live poker events.

iseries poker

Daniel Headlines First iseries Event

Firstly, the iseries live event #1 is kicking off and it should be a fun one to rail. They are streaming the event live and have managed to attract some favorite poker TV personalities  including Phil HellmuthDaniel Negreanu, Devilfish and Carlos Mortenson. If this doesn’t make the event interactive enough for you, iseries is adding an interesting twist to the tournament. If you visit the iseries live website you can watch the tourney and actually bet yourself on different aspects of the tourney. For example, you can actually place a wager against the house on who will win the 5th hand of the tourney, similar to horse racing. I, personally see this as the first step to making the players more like entertainers, similiar to professional athletes. It kinda sucks that players may eventually be judged as much for their ability to entertain at the tables as for their playing ability, but this may be the only way to grow the sport and if it leads to another poker boom, then I’m all for it. If you want to take place in the festivities, however, you had better hurry as they are already underway!

Premier League

The Party Poker Premier League is Underway

The other tourney taking place today is a fun one also. It’s the Party Poker Premier League and while you can’t bet on it yourself or rail a live stream, it does have a live update blog and an extremely high caliber player list including Tom Dwan, who made the trip from Macau to be there. He joins other big name players like Dan CatesPatrik Antonius, and ELKY. You can link to their twitter pages by clicking on their names and all of them do a good job of posting with the exception of Patrik. Beyond the nice player pool, this tourney offers a fresh format. The two groups play 4 separate heats, earning points for their finishing place in each heat. The players with the most points then advance to play a final table. Party Poker is hosting the event and added 200k to the prize pool to attract such high caliber players in. The fist heat is over with Phil Laak and Patrik winning their respective heats. Durrrr busted out 4th in his after getting the money in pre and losing with JJ<88 in a hand that would have vaulted him into the lead.. :( Luckily for him there is plenty more action to come and luckily for you there is plenty more action to rail ;)

Our favorite Swede, Isildur1, triumphs :D

So Isildur1 came through his biggest Superstar Showdown yet with flying colors.

Many people were watching were downing Ike and calling him a nit etc. Thing is, Ike is actually one of the most respected high stakes NL players in the world by all his adversaries. So to see the results only, you might assume this was strictly variance.. But if you railed it like me you know that Isildur1 kinda put on a clinic.

Isildur1 dominates Ike in the Superstar Showdown

It was actually really weird to see him run over such a high caliber opponent. Of course, this is all partially due to variance since we can assume no one, even as good as Isildur1, has a 2+bb/100 edge on someone like Ike.. Still, you could tell that from the get go Ike really had no chance to outplay Isildur1. This was one of the first times in a long time he has seemed so focused on a NL game and his relentless barrelling had Ike on his heels the entire match.. Both players had some swings in their EV lines and showdown lines, but the difference was in Blom’s non-showdown line which was a straight rocket shot up the entire match..

It seemed like Ike had trouble deciding which hands he was going to call the river barrel with and which ones too toss. He seemed to lean toward tossing the majority of them and in the end it was his undoing. I feel sure if he were to do the whole thing again he would adjust by either calling a few more river over bets a little lighter or not floating so many flop and turn bets lightly in the first place getting him to the river with a slightly stronger range..

Of course, the meta game is something i cant even begin to analyze or hope to understand so i could be totally wrong. This being said, i should stop there with the analysis and just say it was a superb match and i can only hope we see another very soon.. Some possible foes I’m rooting to see would be Jungleman12, Ziigmund, Ivey (raiseonce), or durrrr (holdem_nl).. All are relatively unlikely but I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
